Excellent web site and application. Since returning from SBL last weekend I've been brainstorming websites for the Hebrew Bible and Ancient Near Eastern Literature that are very similar to this site. I think Greek Bible Study has a great future. Keep it up.

Thank you so much for this site! One note to make: 2 Samuel 7's Septuagint is off. It has 2 Sm 7:12 written both as verse 11 and verse 12. Verse 11 needs revision.

Hi Divine_Contemplative, Thank you for your feedback and kind help. We’ll correct verse 11. Pete

Could I please ask your assistance. I was here a week ago when I found your site and I was absolutely thrilled. I showed it to everyone that came around.

Then I came back today and it does not do what it did before and I can't figure out what I did to get it to do what it did, which was, when I put my mouse pointer on a greek word I could somehow get it to give me the definition etc of that word right there while reading the verses in the other 3 English texts.

Please tell me how I made that happen. I remember choosing a short of long definition but I don't know how I got there.

Thank you
Hanna

Hi Hanna, I'm glad you found the site. Thank you for your kind enthusiasm. Although we are actively developing word-study resources for the OT (both Hebrew and Greek), currently the word-study resources are for the NT only. Make sure you're looking at an NT chapter and the mouseover menu should work as before. Pete

Ah, another typo: Revelation 4:6 says "four" as "tessera." It should say "tessara." Very easy mistake.

If you email me again, I'll just report these to your email next time I find typos, and I'll compile a list.

Thank you for this site!

Peter Coad said...

Hi Gary, God bless you. I appreciate your attention to detail! Here’s the scoop. The NA27 text spells it “tessera.” The Tischendorf text, spells it “tessara”--and that is the text displayed at the site (more texts coming later this month). So it appears to be a spelling variant, one that does not affect the intended meaning.

Sorry for my ignorance, but how do I get the Greek to show up?

Peter Coad said...

Hi Jimbo,

No problem at all. Here are the FAQs about this:

Q: The Greek text has some little squares where Greek letters should be. What should I do?

A: Update your browser to the current version. The site works well with the current versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, and Chrome.

Q: I'm using the current version of Firefox on Mac. Yet Firefox is not displaying the Greek characters properly. What should I do?

A: Firefox fails to display Greek characters correctly on some Macs. If you encounter this problem on your Mac, use Safari for this site.

Let me know if that helps.

Pete

great site!

i'd love to be able to access an iphone optimized site . . . maybe?

Peter Coad said...

Hi Ryan, Thanks. Yes: an iPhone optimized site would be very useful. Will pursue. Pete

I am so thankful for this site! It has really helped in my understanding, systematic study, etc. Pete, God bless you abundantly in Christ. And thank you for your loving service. I also agree with Ryan Bush. A mobile version of the site, or an iPhone/iPod Touch App would be a significant contribution to the site's utility.

Peter Coad said...

Hi Bendah,
Thank you for your kind and encouraging words.

Regarding the mobile edition, it's ready. With it, you get a version of your choosing, plus your notes. It's an effective way to read and make notes when mobile (looks great on iPhone).

Point your mobile browser to the same address: http://greattreasures.org (the site detects if you are on a mobile device and adjusts itself accordingly).
